Hona and his boys were absolute gems during the build at our house. Not even halfway through our complex build, Hona had to take over the site and team management. He set about working from dawn till dusk to get on top of the detail already in place and how to coordinate the way forward. It was a big ask to be thrown into what was a tough gig with a high profile site, owners demanding excellence, and a detailed bespoke house design. Hona was up for it. We worked well together, had a lot of laughter and realised our vision for the final details. Hona was demanding of himself and demanded excellence from suppliers and those around him. He led a great team and we have a fabulous home.

Great timing lead us to being able to hire Hona and the boys from Sergeant Builders to build our bach at Pataua North. This was our first new build and we went into it full of ideas that Hona was more than happy to incorporate into our design, even if this meant changing direction from what we had originally planned from the week before! Any issues that did arise quickly became non-issues as he had already thought of a workable solution before coming to us – often with several options to choose from.
Hona is very creative and it was a huge plus to work with a builder that not only just builds a house well but then goes on to make them unique, often coming up with ideas to enhance the look we were trying to achieve. The team’s workmanship and finishing is outstanding and the pride they take in their work means that there is no cutting corners, everything was finished to such a high standard. Hona’s forward planning and obvious good relationship with his sub-contractors also meant no delays and the team went out of the way to ensure we were able to use the bach over the summer which we are so grateful for.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with all the builders on the job, they welcomed us even if we turned up announced and you could tell that they were not happy unless we were!
We would definitely recommend Sergeant Builders and if we ever get the chance to build again they would be on the top of our list
